The name, "Creek Lands" was chosen to reflect the history of the area, which was once a part of the Creek Nation's lands. Although Broken Arrow is our official home base, members live in a wide radius surrounding the community, and we certainly invite all Daughters looking for an evening meeting to come and join us!
Creek Lands Chapter, NSDAR, members regularly provide receptions at the Naturalization Court welcoming new citizens to our great country. We are also active with the ROTC awards program in our high schools, having provided awards for outstanding ROTC seniors since the inception of the program in our local schools. We have been honored to present DAR Good Citizens medals to local high school students each of the past several years and hope to continue this in the coming years.
In our 20 years as a chapter, our membership has increased to about 30 members. During this time, following guidelines for activities as provided by the NSDAR Chapter Achievement Awards Committee, we have been honored to have received many state and national level DAR certificates for our activities. We are a growing chapter. We are proud to have chapter members who have severed and currently serve as Oklahoma State Society DAR officers and chairman. In 1997, one of our members was awarded the title, Oklahoma State Society DAR Outstanding Junior Member. In addition, a recipient of our chapter's DAR Good Citizens Award, also won the Oklahoma State Society DAR Good Citizens Award. We have a C.A.R. chapter that we want to continue to expand.
We are small chapter, but we are enthusiastic! We welcome new, eligible members. Thus we eagerly anticipate continued growth of our membership and a corresponding increase in the chapter's activities.
